Fannie Schiavoni (image Not Just A Label)
An intoxicating mix of tough love and sensual shaping first brought Fannie Schiavoni to our attention back in AW11. The Swedish designer is a London College of Fashion graduate and achieved almost instant success in 2009 with her entire graduate collection snapped up in advance by Browns Focus. She’s a recipient of the BFC New Gen award and her aesthetic has the kind of art: fashion crossover appeal that has seen pieces adorning the walls of art galleries, as well as the bodies of superstars like Lady Gaga.

Chain metal is the theme and over the years the designer has progressed from chain metal accessories to head to toe innovatively created garments. We love the delicate way the metal is crafted into T-shirt fabrics and bralets – no, it’s not for everyone but if you love exquisite handcrafting, edgy and cool, this label will give you butterflies.

While the latest collection (AW16) is largely dominated by these musings on chainmail, stainless steel is not the only resource used – PVC, Swarovski crystals and oxidised steel rings make unusually versatile materials. If you’re not sure about the garments then start with the accessories – the Cleopatra Scale Necklace is very high up on our lust list.
