RUN’s SS17 ‘Lineal’ presentation at Fashion Scout was aptly named, with a variety of lines dominating the laid back looks. Vertical drops of oversize houndstooth and mint humbug stripes of black and white, edged with red, brought the collection theme to life on mid and maxi dresses, tailored co-ords and distinctively collared shirts. Bomber jackets were a memorable feature for us – custard yellow and white, khaki black and blue or Parma violet and mint green, they added to the fresh and youthful aesthetic context of minimal make up and topknots. RUN designer Varun Sharma took his inspiration this season from an Ethiopian tribe who take donated clothes (often sports jerseys etc) and add their own distinctive prints, “creating their own kind of language.” Sharma has begun building a name for in-house prints that are versatile and bold and plans to venture into knitwear next – we look forward to seeing the results.
