For this season it was a return to the palette of blues that first attracted us to this innovative and clear thinking designer. The looks were seaside-heavy, from deckchair stripes to models topped with castaway hats. Minimalism remained a dominant theme, as per previous seasons, but there was more sophistication to the SS19 Outre-Mer collection. Navy blue tailoring with nautical white piping and vibrant blue dresses and separates had a more grown up feel. Italian linen, hand woven silks and Tunisian denim ensured the collection was texturally rich and the use of asymmetric levels and patchwork provided a nod towards the non-conformity that the designer favours. More to love about this label includes Anissa Aida’s environmental and ethical credentials, including sourcing sustainably and sticking to ethical production practices.
