A meeting of two worlds, London-based Zeynep Kartal paid homage to her Turkish hometown in this collection via Chelengk jewellery, and references to ‘Nelson’s Lost Jewel’ – the ornate 13-pronged diamond insignia which adorned the backs of elegant tuxedo jackets and extravagant gowns alike.

Sharp, effortlessness chic ruled the show, with elegant suits in crisp white and rich magenta, featuring draped shoulders and an exquisitely tailored fit. These refined looks were followed by floor-sweeping dresses made from silk and lace in gorgeous jewel tones and tied up with prim and perfect fist-wrapped bows, and followed by long circular trains. When the collection really shone, though, was when the tuxes and gowns crossed over into modern couture creations. The undeniable highlight was a silver pant suit in sheer organza, embroidered with blinding crystal pinstripes. While confident and sexy, the look managed a contemporary feel through a slouchy, relaxed fit. Another key piece was a dusty pink chiffon housecoat- meets- ballgown; a truly demure design for the female form.

Zeynep Kartal collaborated with several jewellers from Goldsmith’s Fair for the show, including Sarah Straussberg, Barbara Bertagnolli, Emmeline Hastings, John Moore and Joanne Thompson. These elegant accessories perfectly enhanced the luxuriously clean cut of Kartal’s feminine silhouettes. ‘The Lost Jewel’ was a Spring/Summer collection of pure finesse.
