Show report: Sabinna Fashion Scout AW16, London Fashion Week, Freemasons Hall
SABINNA’S nostalgic AW16 collection was inspired by the handiwork of her grandmother. Sabinna told us, “It was very emotional to look at all her handcrafted pieces and I wanted to create something modern and nice.” Known for her experimentation combining new technology and traditional techniques, the designer employed 3D printing to immortalise her grandmother’s embroideries of Russian landscapes on fabrics such as silk organza. Once again, knitwear played a big role in the collection, showing pieces created from hand crocheted flowers and contrasting these with designs where those same flowers were printed. The feminine collection featured sheer, flowing skirts showcasing the landscape prints, tailored separates worn over printed pieces, knits in neutral tones belted and a neatly tailored trouser suit bringing the 3D printed flowers to life in subtle metallics. Tousled hair and brogues completed the feel of a classic collection.
