DDFC x FAD Dubai Fashion Showcase SS18 London Fashion Week
The DDFC x FAD Dubai Fashion Showcase at Fashion Scout SS18 was a rich and glittering parade of fabulous femininity. Developed as a platform to promote the work of Emirates designers, the SS18 catwalk show focused on designer Amira Haroon, whose work brings together a sense of timelessness with an "easy breezy" feel. Models sparkled in gowns and trouser suits in the earthiest greens and lightest golds, sporting oversize hair bows and elegantly tousled 'do's.
Shoulders were emphasised – cut out or built up – and the collection played with the range of ways this part of the body could be bared, from strapless to asymmetric and halter.
Sleeves were a stand out feature of many of the pieces – bell sleeves, cuffed, slashed or loose, as well as scalloped edged sleeves that weren’t stitched into the looks themselves but clung to the bicep flowing down past the wrist.
It's often surprising how wide ranging spring/summer colour palettes can be - sometimes we forget that this isn't just a season of neons and pastels but there's room for the berries, greens and golds too. This collection perfectly demonstrated, not just the versatility of a seasonal colour palette, but the effortlessness of every day glamour too.
