Fashion Week Stay: Merino Hospitality, Star Yard
If there's one thing you need during London Fashion Week it's somewhere to retreat to. And somewhere with amazing beds. And of course it helps if the place is very Instagrammable. Our stay at Merino Hospitality's AMP apartment in Star Yard was ideal, both in the hours that we needed to rest and recharge, and the times that we were hosting or working. It fitted the bill in every way.
At The Glass Pineapple we focus on emerging fashion labels. Our online store is opening later this year and we get a lot of our inspiration from the emerging designer catwalk shows at London Fashion Week (and NY, Paris and Milan, Belgrade, Berlin etc). Our task during LFW is coverage - blogs, images, video - as well as the odd show and event. So, this year we had a team of 10, all at different shows all over the city, some backstage, some shooting editorial, some interviewing. It was exciting but a challenge...
Being at Star Yard put us within walking distance of both the LFW site on The Strand and Fashion Scout at Freemasons Hall. In a space with such stylish aesthetics we were able to host meetings and drinks, and give our photographers somewhere to relax with the beer after the shows, recharge phones, upload images. The interiors are super modern (awesome Paul Smith rug) and two bathrooms and two cool modern bedrooms gave us plenty of scope for accommodating everyone. And can we just say that there was plenty of wardrobe space - not something you often get in a hotel and ESSENTIAL at fashion week.

Caio and his team were really welcoming - nothing was too much trouble, even a request for a yoga mat. And the little touches - wine and bread there when you arrive, a nice box of juice, awesome toiletries and huge soft towels - meant we could just move in and hit the ground running. Which we had to, given the LFW schedule we had. Oh and the bathrooms – if there is another rainforest shower more reviving than here, we can’t say we’ve found it.
'Calm' bathsoak, essential
And at the end of the stay when we emerged, a bit broken by the fashion overload, all we had to do was lock up, leave the key in a box and fall into a taxi to take us home. It couldn't have been easier. This place scores highly for us - style, comfort, quiet, amenities and location are all there. A big thanks to everyone at Merino Hospitality and hopefully see you next season.
