LFW: John Herrera AW17 Show Report
Easily one of the most consistently striking aesthetics of Fashion Scout AW17, John Herrera's Agila collection had an uncompromising, glamazon feel. Inspired by tribal art and tattoos from the island of Luzon in the Philippines, the pieces were intricately patterned in autumnal shades of brown and burnt orange, revealing more detail and description the closer you looked. Beaded edging blended seamlessly with oversized accessories of beads, stones and feathers, creating entire body looks that gave no clue as to where necklace ended and dress began
The silhouettes were one of the most striking aspects of the collection - bold, exaggerated and edgily modern, from spiky sweetheart necklaces to angular hips. Combined with the dye-sublimated prints and dramatic headpieces, this created a spiritually stylish aesthetic with some serious attitude. We especially loved the dramatic floor-sweeping jacket with its towering puffed sleeves, worn with an almost totally sheer black bodysuit. It represented so much about the collection, which was all the best Ds: detailed, dramatic and to die for.
