Lunyee SS18 London Fashion Week
For SS18, design duo Lunyee explored the ever-decreasing relationship between human and nature and the increasing reality of life lived through screens. This materialised as a tension between precision cuts and unconventional shaping, soothing classic desires and challenging traditional expectations – a fusion of what has gone and what is still yet to come. The collection was shown at Fashion Scout in the atmospheric surrounds of Freemasons Hall, which delivered gravity and sense of place.
Every look contained an exaggerated detail, from an overblown shoulder, to an oversize hoop, reversed buttoning or expressive cutouts. Velvet, silk and an array of deep shades brought a softness to the looks and many were branded with a monogram.
It was perhaps the tailoring that made the biggest impression from this collection – sharp, deconstructed and creative, it gave structure to the asymmetric lines and bare skin and but was also convention challenging in its own right. Lunyee was perhaps one of the more subtle collections from SS18 but also one of the most thoughtful.
