Show report: Ong-Oaj Pairam Fashion Scout SS17 London Fashion Week
Ong-Oaj Pairam SS17
Ong-Oaj designs with a great sense of occasion. A graduate of the University of Brighton, with stints at Proenza Schouler in New York and Roland Mouret in London, he has nailed the art of making full on eveningwear feel contemporary and fresh. 3D textures, violently bright shades, layers, draping, embellishment, embroidery and his signature soft tailoring shape looks that are feminine and fierce. For SS17 the collection continued in this vein with floor sweeping ball dresses in stiff tiers of layered leopard print or strapless scarlet, and gently tailored shirts, suits, jackets - even a pair of fuchsia pink dungarees. The two all over fringed looks had us drooling – an oversize blue and leopard print fringe jacket and a full-length red shirt dress rippling with fringed chevron tiers. We just couldn’t get enough of those.
