JAMIE WEI HUANG Spring/Summer 15 - Metaphysics
Jamie Wei Huang SS15
Jamie Wei Huang’s SS15 collection at Fashion Scout was gentle on the eye and a pleasure to watch. Awash with soft, delicate fabrics and summery tones to begin, the collection then changed liked the British weather, moving on to navies, greys, dark greens and blacks. Fabrics were warm and tactile - silks, Toscana sheepskin, delicate leather and Napa.
The collection was inspired by the idea of human existence within urban society. It incorporated a combination of casual lines, high quality tailoring and a sporting aesthetic with illustrative equipment varying from bicycle bags, to ski wear and basketball shorts. Although this might sound like a rather random collection of themes the collection had a sense of backbone that made it feel entirely joined up.
Jamie Wei created the Metaphysics collection to be worn by ‘everyone and anyone,’ which could well explain its diversity, from tailoring to sportswear, silks to sheep skin, heels to sandals. This broad appeal was also illustrated by the models' lack of uniformity - blonde, brunette, pink haired, tattooed. Tip for SS15: watch out for the silk panama style outfits - they will be to die for when the sun comes out again next year.
