4 AW17 trends to try now

The schedules of fashion sometimes seem designed to irritate - you've spent an entire month poring over AW17 collections only to then have to rewind back to SS17 and remind yourself what you loved from a whole season ago. Perhaps the answer is seasonless fashion - the ability to see the show and then buy the pieces straight away, something that is already being embraced by some labels. AW17 really highlighted the frustration of the six month fashion wait - there were many trends we wanted right now. Here are 4 of them:
Houndstooth check
Cimone AW17
From Chanel, to Cimone houndstooth check was a frequent flyer for AW17. A classic fabric, it just screams 'ladylike' but also has a sense of striking modern flair. Head to toe houndstooth seemed to be the theme this season so, if you're going to do it, don't skimp.

Sometimes subtle, sometimes gloriously bold, fringing was a recurrent theme during the AW17 shows, from London to Paris. This is actually a perfect summer texture as anyone who has ever worn fringing knows what a wonderful breeze it can create in the heat. Just avoid too-windy days or it could get embarrassing.
Balmain AW17

Adeline Lee Aw17
For some reason red always gets consigned as a winter shade - and there was certainly plenty of it around on the AW17 catwalks, from Roksanda to Prada and Edeline Lee. But why restrict enjoyment of this shade to a single season when it has such a bold and beautiful impact. You'll always stand out in red. Plus, red in summer has serious St Tropez vibes.
Krasimira Stoyneva AW17
David Ferreira AW17
Go big or go home - there was plenty of that on the catwalks this season, from the glorious extremities of David Ferreira, to the abstract sculpted looks at Comme des Garcons. Of course, volume can be subtler too - taking up space in a less brazen way like the oversize knits and circle skirts at Katie Ann McGuigan. No reason to wait for winter to adopt this trend - just go for lighter fabrics and float away on a cloud of cotton or tulle.
