Ana Ljubinkovic

Ana Ljubinkovic Belgrade Fashion Week

Ana Ljubinkovic SS17

Already potentially one of Belgrade’s most successful exports, we discovered Ana Ljubinkovic during Fashion Scout in September when she won a Ones to Watch place for SS17. Her super sweet collection of pastel shaded pieces with an interstellar crew vibe was one of the highlights of the week. As it turns out, full throttle colour is a theme with Ana - the line of pastel coloured brogues launched with her sister Iva Ljubinkovic were everywhere at Belgrade Fashion Week (soon to be everywhere in London too no doubt). Ana is an innovative designer – always looking for that new cut – and she’s totally unafraid to play with colour, texture, metallics, embellishment and appliqué. Were it not for the fact that The Glass Pineapple left the credit card in the UK we would have returned home from Belgrade Fashion Week with a mint green bomber jacket, a print blazer and at least two pairs of shoes. Certainly one to watch – in Belgrade, and beyond.

Sonja Jocić

Sonja Jocic Belgrade Fashion Week

Sonja Jocic SS17

Sonja Jocić is another Belgrade designer we believe is headed for great things. In fact, she has already won the The ELLE Fashion Award for the best fashion show and TEXTIL Young Designer Award for the best young designer. A former dancer with a background in theatre, Sonja has a clear appreciation of the way fabrics move and fall on the body, both in motion and when still. If you like flowing lines, uber-texture and minimal, contemporary colour schemes then she is a designer to watch. Oversize, structural shapes seem to be a signature silhouette for the label and clever placement of statement colour gives the line real impact. Sonia’s pieces are also created with a zero waste policy - she is a designer who passionately believes that the industry can change its destructive impact and that the natural world doesn’t have to pay the price for beautiful fashion.

Budislava

Budislava Belgrade Fashion Week

Budislava SS17

Budislava Kekovic is one of the founders of the Belgrade Design District and a creative force in Serbia's fashion scene. Her designs rely on simplicity and bold silhouettes – you don’t have to look far to see the influence of modern Japanese fashion and a love for the darker elements of style. Black is a favourite shade - she's one of the few designers we’ve seen who always make it seem interesting - and her pieces are designed to be simple and as seamless as possible. At Belgrade Fashion Week we fell in love with the coats, her structural aesthetic, as well as the innovative use of sheer polka dot fabrics - and the bunny ears of course.

Mood board Studio

Moodboard Studio SS17

Ana Trošić Trajković SS17

Moodboard Studio is a collaborative project of Serbian designer Ana Trošić Trajković and her husband Nikola Trajkovic that has evolved into a brand with a bold and creative aesthetic. The separate Ana Trošić Trajković label caters to the couture end of the market, offering hand made pieces that are intensely detailed. Perfect for lovers of colour, the designs are inspired by broad array of influences – artist Frank Stella fuelled the SS17 collection, ‘Irregular Polygons.’ The use of colours and prints is a signature but that’s not to say that any darker shades are out of the question. Ana told us she once created an entire collection in black just because she felt like it. An innovative label to watch.

Aleksandra Lalic SS17

Inventive and innovative, Aleksandra Lalic is a Belgrade designer whose subtle aesthetic disguises an intense level of detail. Lalic is probably best known for her Hair_Dress collection, which was fashioned from felt made from human hair. The point being to recycle biowaste and return it to the human body. An ingenious concept, particularly interesting in that it ended up producing a totally covetable range that was directional but also wearable. We think Lalic is a great choice for coats and tailored pieces. Her smooth silhouettes and soft feminine structuring create looks that are flattering, sleek and contemporary.
