Pam Hogg AW13
After what seemed like an endless wait we were about to throw in the towel and hit the bar when the lights finally went down at Pam Hogg last night. But the endurance test of the waiting – and the standing – and the waiting - was nothing in comparison to the austere and almost cruel start to the collection, with models emerging gagged, bound and balancing rhomboids on their heads like some kind of extreme finishing school.
You never know what you will get with Pam Hogg but this show was almost entirely perfect in fashion terms. There was tactical nudity, covetable wearability, and fantastical feathered headdresses that we secretly wish were acceptable commuter wear. Watching several of the models emerge en pointe, walking trancelike down the catwalk and then suddenly breaking into provocative tribal moves before returning to their toes and glazed expressions was gratifyingly bizarre. It was a grotesquely beautiful show and a Saturday headliner worth waiting for.
