Gareth Pugh AW13
There is an element of showmanship to Gareth Pugh that never disappoints and even the fact that Cher was in the audience - ‘OMG CHER’ – couldn’t distract from the fabulously ghostly maidens that trod the catwalk for AW13. But although you wouldn’t want to set out on the bus next September in white face paint and a floor sweeping, full-skirted gown, as always there was wearability alongside theatre and a great big punch of attitude.
Asymmetric cuts, funnel necks, voluminous shapes and shoulder length leather gloves (or they may have been leather sleeves…) were high street translatable, and mirrored many of the other looks we have seen during the AW13 shows. A palette of largely black, white and blue – or shades thereof - head to toe colour, ribboned, ribbed and leather textures and some distinctly 50s necklines provided covetability for all - even those of us who live outside a fantasy Gothic realm.
