Isabel Marant AW13
Rock chic vibes were strong at Isabel Marant on Friday, with the label’s standard dose of effortless chic injected into every look. ‘Second skin’ and ‘super short’ were the buzzwords for silhouettes, and top-of-the-thigh length knits were abundant. Looks were accessorised with loose looped scarves, and calf length wedge boots that have the potential to be as big as the Perkin (etc) wedge trainer.

Despite the slim fit of many of the pieces, sleeves fell way below wrists, tailoring was loose and soft knitwear and sheepskin made frequent appearances. Black and a pale creamy nude were the dominant colours with shades thereof from look to look. Layering was big, and some naughty sheer peek-a-boo patches and cut out details, as well as studs and metal embellishments completed the rock chic vibe. The odd boxy jacket and a flourish of sparkle here and there gave the collection a very versatile appeal and we particularly loved the boyfriend style tuxedo jacket worn with bare legs and a knowing smile.
