Return Of The….90s
Long live the Mighty Nineties, an era that if some SS13 designers are to be believed, will never die. A fusion of ‘90s trends have shown up on the catwalks for the summer season, from 90s brights, graphic tees, and double denim to clean lines and blinding whites. At The Glass Pineapple, we love the all-encompassing nature of this influence, which includes everything from minimalism to wild audacious neon and psycho psychedelic prints.

Neon continues to trend for SS13 - the tougher, more attention seeking alternative to those pretty summer pastels. Acid pinks, concentrated lime greens and pulsating yellows were just some of the mouthwatering shades we saw for this season, with David Koma, Versus, Simone Rocha, Proenza Schouler and Erdem just some of the designers reinventing the ‘90s neon trend for a new blood fashion fans.

Double Denim is without doubt a ‘90s fad, beloved by the youth of the day because it went against the fashion institution, even if at one point it did have a reputation as being slightly tacky... LFW designer Ashish showcased a number of double denim looks that embraced the ‘90s, even if sometimes only with one leg!
Jil Sander SS13
When it comes to designers who have always incorporated nineties minimalist traits to great effect, Jil Sander, Margaret Howell and Celine spring to mind. Their nominal palette, light materials, sleek lines and simple shapes are perfect way to jump on the reinvigorated ‘90s bandwagon, and to make your wardrobe work for spring/summer 2013.
