Fashion Scout’s Ones to Watch

Posted on

With London Fashion Week nearly upon us, the excitement is definitely starting to build (are you getting tingles yet?). For us at The Glass Pineapple it’s not just about the major designers, but also fresh, new design talent, such as that showcased by the Fashion Scout Ones to Watch.

The Ones to Watch platform enables up-and-coming designers to present their collections during fashion week at the Fashion Scout shows, which have been a launch pad for lots of now-household fashion names, from Peter Pilotto to Felder Felder. This year, Hannah Williams, Helen Lawrence and Renli Su will present their SS14 collections on September 13th, following in the footsteps of the likes of Eudon Choi, Pheobe English and Hermione de Paula, with what will no doubt be a mix of memorable techniques and creative design talent – we’re already excited.

Helen Lawrence

Helen Lawrence, a Central Saint Martins MA graduate, has developed under some of the best in the industry, including McQueen and Mark Fast. Her ability to combine innovative techniques and unusual fabrics displays an admirable originality and a truly talented eye for unusual design.

Hannah Williams

Hannah Williams, the winner of the Graduate Fashion Week Innovation and Womenswear Award, has already gained recognition in the industry and the fashion press. Her emphasis on moulded silhouettes, ballooning proportions and rare fabric combinations in a subtle colour palette of soft blues and crisp whites, represents her pioneering and unique design vision.

Renli Su

Graduate of respected China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Renli Su also completed an MA in fashion design and technology at the London College of Fashion. With her focus on hand-made techniques her work showcases flawless craftsmanship and exciting imagination in the incorporation of reconstructed materials. Her use of raw textured fabrics works seamlessly with the earthy tones and structured design elements that sum up the ‘return to nature’ looks.

The winner of the highly acclaimed Merit Award will be rewarded with a fully sponsored catwalk show, exhibition space at London and Paris Fashion Weeks and a £1000 prize. Renowned globally for showcasing a creative selection of new talent, we anticipate great things for Fashion Scout’s SS/14 Ones to Watch showcase.
