Milan Fashion Week: Roberto Cavalli SS14

If you thought The Great Gatsby buzz had faded then you might want to take a look at the Roberto Cavalli SS14 looks. Cavalli brought the 20’s back in style for SS14 with a collection that evoked the Hollywood glamour of the big screen. Dresses ranged from floor length to above the knee - an updated twist on a lady like look from last the century - and there were plenty of textural switches, from delicate lace and chiffon to fitted leather.

Pastel palettes and metallic embellishments dominated; silver gems blending with shades of mint green, baby blue, blush pink and of course white and black. The devil was in the details, which included fur stoles, sunglasses, silver box clutches and gladiator sandals that were dripping with silver chains, as well as long tasselled necklaces. Floor length kaftans contrasted with fur coats, and bomber style tailored jackets were paired with beyond embroidered harem pants and blouses, producing without a doubt one of our favourite looks.

The only element that was understated was the hair and make-up, which followed the ever popular ‘glowing and dewy’ trend, training the focus on the clothes throughout the show. Although, when it comes to a Roberto Cavalli catwalk, ensuring a focus on the fashion is rarely an issue...
