About these labels and designers

The Glass Pineapple loves emerging designers and independent brands - this is where the innovators are, these are the labels pushing the boundaries, this is where style starts out. Below are the labels and designers we used for our shoot (pineapple belongs to Alex).

Electronic Sheep

Electronic Sheep

London and Dublin based knitwear label Electronic Sheep is the queen of cool knits. Designers  Brenda Aherne and Helen Delany are known for their tapestry-esque designs and for bringing a new perspective to knitwear that is engaging, eclectic and humorous. We love the bold colours and the contemporary prints, which take knitwear to a new and exciting level. Bye bye boring sweaters forever.

Phira London

 Phira London

Phira makes solid silver unisex jewellery with a simple aesthetic and a weighty feel. Each unique piece has a timelessness to it and has been hand made and stamped with a silver hallmark. We love the ethos of this label - "Equality is the soul of liberty; there is, in fact, no liberty without it." Phira seeks to encourage and promote equality by designing only Unisex pieces - the only downside is that you'll have to keep these hidden from other halves/housemates/siblings as they are too covetable not to want to borrow.

Maitre Choux

Maitre Choux

Maitre Choux works only with choux (as you might have guessed from the name). Opening a box of their eclairs is the only time that we've ever seen the same sparkly eyed reaction to patisserie as a pair of new shoes or a unique piece of jewellery. Delicate, delicious and perfectly formed, the Red Love and Spanish Pink Raspberry eclairs featured in our shoot are impossibly precise and mouthwatering - give them to your boss if you want a promotion, take them to a dinner party and you'll always be invited back.

Saint Luke

Saint Luke

Every unique piece from Saint Luke comes with the feel of the Caribbean, from the bright and colourful designs, to the pineapple print inside the bag in our shoot. Specialising in travel bags for those who are fed up of flimsy, boring luggage, the brand is all about individuality and exploration and providing some practical, stylish luggage options with which to do it. Saint Luke also has a social conscience - every purchase you make from them provides the materials and resources for up to 40 people to receive clean water for 5 years. We think this kind of attitude is the future - fashion and philanthropy make such a beautiful pair.

ABO Shoes

ABO Shoes

During a trip to Belgrade Fashion Week in November of this year we discovered ABO Shoes' adventurous brogues and it was love at first sight. A sibling partnership, the label is the work of Iva and Ana Ljubinković and is all about putting the fun back into footwear. Hand made, comfortable and stand out stylish, the designs are the perfect antidote to a rainy Monday, a boring meeting or a hangover. Get them on your feet right now or give them as a Christmas gift to your favourite fashion fan.

Point Blank

Point Blank

We've been following London based design collective Point Blank for several seasons now - their Fashion Scout presentations are always high on our list. The aesthetic of this innovative label shows the fusion of fashion and scenography that the two designers bring to the table. Bold, eclectic and versatile, the pieces are the perfect for gifting (or self gifting) the work of emerging fashion talent with its own voice.

Nina Ullrich

Nina Ullrich

London accessories designer Nina Ullrich draws her inspiration from the world of bold and abstract art. The designer's prints are drawn freehand and everything is made in England. Monochromatic shades and minimalist styling give these pieces a unique feel. We fell totally in love with the phone case we used in the shoot, so much so that we had to get one because we couldn't part with it. Stylish gifting without a bank breaking price tag.

Designer Jiwon Ree is one of London's most exciting knitwear talents. Sophisticated but strong, her designs have exactly the right mix of luxury and cutting edge style. Empowering in their practicality and comfort, as well as the statement bold aesthetic, JWon is all about colour, prints and knitwear that is experimental but wearable, style-focused rather than limited by passing trends. We love the ethos and the look of this label and the 100% cashmere makes being chic look easy.

Paradise Row

Paradise Row Buddha Bag

Handmade in East London, Paradise Row bags are something of a work of art. Detail is intensely finished, from the 12 carat gold-plated metal fittings, to the immaculate leather work. The bags are 100% natural vegetable-tanned leather and come in five designs with a subtle, sophisticated colour range. We shot the Buddha bag for our gift guide - a luxuriant green style, complete with tiny Buddha charm.

Lola's Apothecary

Lola's Apothecary

The best Christmas gifts have an element of indulgent luxury and Lola's Apothecary does this so well. These lovingly hand made couture beauty products are crafted in micro batches to ensure freshness and quality. Open a bottle of the Delicate Romance Balancing Body & Massage Oil we used in our shoot and the uplifting, soothing effect is instant - rose, geranium, sweet orange, lemon and sandalwood as fresh as if just picked or peeled. This brand is all about sensory indulgence, natural wellness and living kindly - great gifts to give for Christmas 2016.

Starlover custom leather jacket

Designer Donna Ganley created the bespoke, hand painted Starlover leather jacket for our shoot in just 48 hours and we were awestruck by the awesome results. This label specialises in hand painted, one off designs on vintage leathers with a rock n roll vibe. Customers so far have included a certain Anais Gallagher and potentially pretty much everyone who saw the jacket during our shoot.

Millar Jewellery

Millar Jewellery

Scott Millar trained at the Royal College of Art and uses hand worked, traditional techniques to create his intricate designs. Millar Jewellery is an arresting fusion of centuries old technique and striking contemporary style with a touch of the gothic and references to ancient mythology. Two of Scott's hand made pendants appear in our shoot - the Helm of Disguise pendant (above) with its warrior heritage and striking sterling silver finish, as well as the hand carved raven skull pendant.

Quin Collection

Quin Collection

Quin Collection is a label with a simple, elegant aesthetic that gently references trends but firmly makes its own style. The pre-fall 2017 collection that features in our shoot perfectly demonstrates the laid back, sophisticated style and easy to wear approach. Casual need never be boring, low key need never be dull, anyone can be individual. Quin launches properly next year and we'd recommend this as a label to watch.

 Civillian Jewellery

Civilian is the work of Jen Durrans, a University of Westminster graduate with a talent for the bold. We fell in love with these spherical silver rings the minute we saw them - they are totally touchable and completely unique. These styles come from Civilian's SS17 line, the first collection from the label. Timeless and easy to layer and wear with just about anything, the designs are innovative, stylish and cool.

Agonist Parfums

Agonist Parfum

Agonist is a Swedish perfume house that creates unique unisex fragrances in collaboration with renowned perfumers. The two fragrances from our shoot - Solaris and Blue North - are our favourites from this stylish perfume house. Blue North is rich with cardamom, rosemary and spearmint, an instant hit of Nordic icy freshness. Solaris is inspired by the warmth of the midnight sun that never sets in the north, a fusion of ingredients like black pepper, pink grapefruit, patchouli and green mandarin.
