EDDA - Fashion Scout Merit Award Winner for SS18
SS18 is fast approaching and the first award winner of the season to be announced is Edda Gimnes, a Norwegian designer and London College of Fashion graduate. We covered Edda’s work when she was named one of Fashion Scout’s Ones to Watch in AW16 and we’re delighted to see that this year her label EDDA has been named as the Fashion Scout Merit Award winner for SS18.
Scooping the award, Edda follows in the footsteps of some of fashion’s most exciting creatives, from Eudon Choi through to Phoebe English and David Koma. Her designs are truly original, challenging the silhouettes, styles and shapes that we all become used to on the catwalk and introducing themes that provide something to think about. In her debut collection she explored old and forgotten objects as inspiration and used a very unorthodox method of creating – drawing digital prints with her non-dominant hand.
This isn’t the first award for EDDA – the designer has also won “Germany’s Designer for Tomorrow Award,” which had the awesome Alber Elbaz on the judging panel. She has also been recognised by the New York Times as one of ten “Fresh out of Fashion School designers to watch.”
The Merit Award winning SS18 collection is vintage influenced, bring together the style cues of the 1950s with elements of sportswear and heavy and sensual feminine elegance. Layering provides depth, and colours - from olive and mustard, to light pink and teal - bring the grown up glamour. EDDA will showcase her SS18 collection at Fashion Scout London, in the Presentation Studio on Saturday 16th September 2018 at 14.30 during London Fashion Week – an award winning show not to be missed.
